Resources

"Know thyself. All knowledge ultimately means self-knowledge." - Bruce Lee

The following resources are tried and tested by me. I use them every quarter to assess my performance and calibrate myself to align with the direction where I want to take my life.

  • 9 Environments Scan - This assessment will help you to raise your awareness around which environment(s) might be creating stress or struggle in your life. It is NOT to give your life a score of excellent, good, fair, or poor.

The whole idea is to be aware of whether it's your body, or relationships, or financial environment that is making you to feel like shit in life. Then take actionable steps to work on to improve those environments.

The 3 environments I'm working on to enhance during Q1 of 2018 -
    a) Financial, b) Spiritual, and c) Relationships
  • VIA Character Strength - I believe life is about playing offense on your strengths instead of trying hard to work on improving your weaknesses.

The interesting thing is that your strengths and weaknesses vary based on your current life situations and the actions you take on a consistent basis.

But sometimes, whether at work or in life, we need to possess certain skills or strengths to get the job done.

This assessment helps you identify the areas that you need to be stronger at right now. Thereby, helping you create a playbook to smash your goals with full power.

My current (test date: 12/25/2017) top 7 strengths are -
  • Enneagram - I first discovered this through my mentor. It is a personality typing system that consists of nine different types.

Everyone is considered to be one single type, although one can have traits belonging to other ones. While it's uncertain whether this type is genetically determined, many believe it is already in place at birth.

People of a particular type have several characteristics in common, but they can be quite different nevertheless. It depends among other things on their level of mental health.

    I'm an Enneagram type-8 i.e. the 'Challenger'.

  • The Four Tendencies Quiz  - This quiz is based on the book 'Better than before' & 'The Four Tendencies' by NY Times Bestselling author, Gretchen Rubin.

I love this quiz for the fact that it's a simple framework to understand your primal behavior type among the 4 that the author's research identified - a) Upholder, b) Obliger, c) Questioner, d) Rebel

Also, this helps me to quickly guess a person's tendency and then tailor my communication to him/her using words that is most effective for their tendency.

I'm a Questioner with slight Rebel tendencies.

  • Authentic Happiness  - Dr. Martin Seligman is a pioneer in the field of positive psychology. This is a digital repository of assessments that is based on statistical correlation involving over million data points.

The 'Authentic Happiness Inventory' is my favorite assessment to quantify how fulfilled I am in life at the moment. The questions help identify the areas to work on.

Below is how the result of the test looks like.

  • Financial Net-Worth Tracker - One habit that has positively impacted by personal finances is being aware of my financial net-worth.

Don't have much scientific reasoning to back this. But writing down my numbers helps my brain to be aware of my financial health which I can use to customize my action steps moving forward.

I also use Mint for financial tracking. But a Google Sheet forces me to write down the numbers and has turned out to be more effective than an automatic platform where I don't necessarily take customized measures based on the account health.
  • Annual Credit Report - The key to improving your credit health is to first be aware of your credit health through the lenses of financial institutions.

TL;DR: It means that when we know our credit health, we can take actions to eliminate the 'Red Flag' items and improve the 'Yellow Flag' items.

AnnualCreditReport.com is one of the legit sources that allows for a free credit history check once a year.
